Maybe you want to have a strong yet conservative look for business, on the other hand you’re really a fun and artistic person away from the office. We can help you achieve just the right look. MEET OUR TEAM
Charlotte Mattox
Charlotte Mattox offers over two decades of professional experience and more certifications and licenses than most in her field will ever think about acquiring. As an optician and optical boutique owner, Charlotte shares her expertise as an optician to everyone in Douglas County and beyond. Castle Rock EyeWear is a hands-on operation with Charlotte and Jim, her husband of 25 years, personally handling all of the operational tasks essential in offering a level of service and selection that is better in every way.
Our belief is that continuing education on the very latest lens technologies is critical to our ability to offer and deliver to our clients the very best eyewear designed to meet all of their optical needs. Charlotte has received and maintained both her ABO and NCLE certifications. These were required before she could sit for the board exams to acquire her state license. She takes great pride in the fact that this challenging process not only gave her a tremendous breadth of knowledge, but it is also a process that is not required in many states, including Colorado. There are no license or certification requirements for opticians in Colorado.
Dr. Allison Ruehlen
Dr. Allison Ruehlen grew up in Colorado and completed her BS in Merchandising at Colorado State University – Fort Collins. She pursued a career in Retail Management for six years prior to graduating from Pacific University (OR) with a Doctor of Optometry degree. While studying at Pacific University, she completed training in dry eye and ocular surface disease, diabetic eye disease, contact lenses, glaucoma, and other ocular disease management.
Dr. Ruehlen is passionate about taking care of her patients while finding root causes of their chief concerns, promoting prevention strategies, developing individual treatment plans/prescriptions, and suggesting the best optical recommendations to improve patient outcomes. She loves spending time with her wonderful husband, daughter, and two kitties (Cash and Mae). They enjoy traveling, hiking and attending local sporting events.

It is hard to believe when you look around at the beauty that surrounds us here in Douglas County that there are some ugly truths out there. It’s summertime, and kids are out of school. That means some kids are not getting the meals that were provided to them at school. It will be that much harder for struggling parents to provide extra meals for themselves. Some parents are missing up to 4 days of work per month because they cannot afford the diapers required by daycare.
